Answer
Note! Do NOT use 'Cut'! 'Delete' has to be used to remove context material.
- Check-out the complete assembly (propagate operation).
- Open the product in CATIA.
- Open the product, with the lowest level instance with the material link, in a new window.
- Delete the material from the instance. (You can copy the material to the part itself before deleting it from the instance.)
- Close the window.
- Open the parent product of the previously treated product in a separate window and delete the material again from the same instance.
- Repeat the step above until the top product has been reached, delete the material from the instance also from the top product.
- In File -> Desk..., systematically clean with CATDUA (right-click) the parts up to the top product. It's important to clean "Bottom-up"
- Check in Edit -> Links that the material link has dissapeared.
- Save and Check-in the models.
Material link with "reference not found"
This arrives if a material in context is not deleted but removed using a "Cut" operation.
- Check the "From element" value and the "Pointed document" value. The "From element" value is the instance name.
- Add a Material on the "Pointed document".
- Copy that material on the "Pointed document".
- Open each subassembly, that is containing the "From element", in a separate window and 'Paste special as material link' the material to the "From element" instance(es).
- Delete the material from the instances.
- Delete the material added on the "Pointed document".
- Save and Check-in the models.
